Widows in India often face economic challenges due to lack of proper support, education or financial independence. Many widows are elderly or have children to care for, making financial survival an everyday struggle.
Social Stigma
There is still an unfortunate stigma attached to being a widow. Some are labels as cursed and cast aside as a liability. Widows can often be ostracized and excluded from society. In many cases, widows face additional health problems, including depression, anxiety, and social isolation due to their status and lack of support.
Overcrowded
India has the largest population in the world. That’s about 4x’s the United States living on about 1/3 of the land. Considered the lesser of society, there is no priority put on the care for widows. They are often forgotten and cast aside, with little to no support.
